I Made The Marshmallow I Couldn't Find
I wasn’t trying to invent a functional marshmallow.
I was trying to make marshmallows for my kids.
The ones I could buy had ingredient lists I didn’t love. And I’ve never been particularly good at accepting that’s just how it comes as an answer.
So I started making them myself.
Maple Syrup. Grass-fed gelatin. Real vanilla.
Marshmallows were everywhere. And, apparently there is such a thing as too many marshmallows.
Which is how one ended up in my coffee.
One Morning
Things Got Interesting
One of those marshmallows ended up in my coffee.
It melted. Made the coffee creamy and just sweet enough. And it was really good.
Then I looked at the collagen powder I added to my coffee every morning—the tub, the scoop, the mess, the clumps—and thought:
Wait. Can I put the collagen in the marshmallow?
So I tried.
Collagen peptides. In a marshmallow.
No scoop. No whisk. No sad little clumps.
A little indulgence, a marshmallow, with benefits.
The kids are still here, by the way.
It's a Family Affair
My son now helps with shipping and fulfillment, so some of the boxes arriving on doorsteps across the country have passed through his hands.
My daughter has taken on another important role:
Quality control.
Mostly through consumption.
She still eats all the marshmallows I’ll let her.
Some things scale. Some things don’t.
What we're Building
Life, with Benefits.
Somewhere along the way, this became bigger than a marshmallow.
Because the best parts of life are often the little ones. The first sip of coffee. Something sweet in the afternoon. Staying at the table a little longer. The things you look forward to for no reason other than they make the day better.
We think those moments deserve more of our attention, not less.
More flavor. More pleasure. More reasons to connect with the ones you love.
That’s what we mean by with Benefits.
We’re interested in more of that.
